Fixing household fuses

Today many new varieties of fuses are being installed, but still many of the old households still use the old ones.

Many women , who handle electric light bulbs and other equipment without inhibitions, are helpless when confronted with a blown fuse.Provided, of course, that you know where the fuse box is and that someone has had the foresight to place a supply nearby, you should have no trouble meeting the emergency

It is no more difficult to install a fuse than to replace a light bulb, and no more dangerous.

Steps to follow

- Disconnect the appliances you were using when the circuit went out.
- With dry hands, unscrew the blown fuse and screw in a new one of the same amperage. The        amperage is indicated by a number stamped on the fuse
- If your fusebox is in a damp basement, stand on a dry board.
- If you don't know what caused the fuse to blow, or if the new fuse also blows better call an electrician
- You may have a short circuit.Worn cords, malfunctioning appliances, are the usual causes of blown fuses

Newer houses have circuit breakers, rather than fuses to cutoff the electric power in an emergency. If a circuit cuts off, a brush of the hand will make it resume guard(as most of us do today) after the electric load has been adjusted.
No ampere numbers to be matched, no danger of getting the wrong fuse, and no being caught without the proper one.
